growing up too fast
the last time I
saw you:
buried in the ground like
water,
your iceberg dreams
pulled further down by
gravity’s spoiled child,
screaming
and much too tired
for his own
good.
and,
with windowpane eyes,
pupils dilated
like an ambulance driver
in five o’clock traffic,
you
are
gridlocked,
living on a flat earth,
and that boy in the back seat,
armed with IV lines and
broken brains,
sleeps
execution style.
