- drunk on her smile, I

- growing up too fast

about the author
|
think lucid.
even
in
this thin layer of silence,
the moment
when fireworks
elicit startled gasps
from the depths of dropped jaws
and the vibrant,
BOOMING
echo
of the
noise
of people
is drowned
by the disappearance
of that stream of light,
of that railing spark,
ceased,
and every soul
just
waiting
for the sky’s reply
in a stain of colour,
an eruption of bass
from the guts of broken clouds,
and the subsequent return
to the naturalness
of the earth,
I
am
lost
in my own sea
of effervescent sound,
in a fever of thought,
blinking like a machine.
and the thoughts
tell me,
no!
escape to the
realness
of confetti stars,
a shower of dust
for your fertile mind.
don’t bury the truth
under a mound of metaphor--
drop bombshells like baby birds
drunk on impulse and inspiration
and
fly,
you idiot,
fly.
